3:1–19 The expression of woe that opens this chapter controls its mood until the last verse. The various parts all contribute to its literary unity, and together they emphasize the irreversible doom of Nineveh. The prophet no longer focuses on Israel and Judah alone, but places the fate of Nineveh in a universal perspective.
