6:13 apostles. The word means a “messenger,” someone sent (see 2 Cor. 1:1 note). It is not often used in the Gospels (“the twelve” is more common) but is frequent in Acts and the Epistles. Until now Luke has spoken of “Simon,” but from this point on he usually calls him “Peter.”
