23:50, 51 Joseph of Arimathea is mentioned in all four Gospels as taking the leading role in Jesus’ burial. The location of Arimathea is uncertain (Mark 15:43 note). Joseph was a member of the Sanhedrin and must have been absent when the vote to execute Jesus was taken, for “all” agreed to this (Mark 14:64). That he was “looking for the kingdom of God” (v. 51) means that he was a follower of Jesus.
