In another Hebrews passage mentioning “the house of God” (v. 21; cf. 3:1–14), there is a similar exhortation to be “firm” (3:14), and a similar assurance that Christ “is faithful” (cf. 3:5, 6). Probably “our original confidence” (3:14), like the “confession of our hope” (v. 23), refers to the time of baptism (note the term “water” in v. 22) and entrance into the church (v. 32).
