5:2 Regarding Christ and circumcision as necessary for salvation is the same as denying the sufficiency of Christ’s death for salvation. For those set free in Christ, to be circumcised for salvation is to undertake to do what they can never do (2:21), and to reject what Christ has done for them. It is to return again to the dominion of sin and the law’s curse.
