An inscription in the Siloam Tunnel celebrates the completion of an impressive engineering feat. The conduit runs from the Gihon spring outside the city wall (cf. 1 Kin. 1:33 note) through seventeen hundred feet of solid rock to the Pool of Siloam inside the city.
