1 Cor 16:5–9

16:5–9 These verses make clear that Paul wrote the letter from Ephesus and intended to visit Corinth by way of the northern land route around the Aegean Sea. Both Acts 20:1, 2 and 2 Cor. 2:12, 13 indicate that he carried out this plan. What Paul did not foresee at this time was the prior need to make a short and unpleasant visit to Corinth soon after writing 1 Corinthians (2 Cor. 1:23; 2:1; 13:2; Introduction to 2 Corinthians: Date and Occasion).
