Zechariah 5

V 1–4: REVELATION—CURSE The huge flying scroll in this vision stands for the greatness of God’s word. God’s word pronounces a curse upon all sin, including theft and lying, which are specifically mentioned. God’s word will ultimately have free course in convicting sinners of their sin. V 5–11: REVELATION—CONSECRATION In this vision, the woman in the basket is wicked. God confines her to the basket and covers it with a lead cover before two winged women take that basket out of Judah, to be housed in Shinar (another name for Babylon). This speaks not only of the cleansing, but also of the consecration of Judah. Evil will be cleared from her boundaries in the end times.
