Zechariah 3

V 1–10: REVELATION—CLEANSING The next vision concerns Joshua, the priest, opposed by Satan, whom God rebukes. Joshua’s filthy clothes are removed and replaced by clean and rich robes and a turban. This underlines the need for holiness in God’s people and priesthood. God gives him a sign that one day ‘My Servant the BRANCH’ will be brought forth. This will be fulfilled in the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. ‘Jesus’ is the same Greek word as ‘Joshua’ is in Hebrew, and means ‘God saves’. In that day, iniquity will be removed and there will be fruitful fellowship among God’s people. God will give peace.
