V 1–5: CONJECTURE David considers what would have happened in the face of great enemy opposition against Israel if the Lord had not been on their side. He knows they would have been swamped. If we ask ourselves the same question, we will reach the same conclusion. V 6–7: CONFIDENCE David expresses grateful confidence in God who has provided escape both for His people and for David himself. V 8: CONCLUSION The encouraging and comforting lesson drawn from all this is that help comes from the Lord, the great Creator.
