Psalm 102

V 1–2: PRAYING David asks God to hear him and to answer speedily. Troubles often increase the intensity of our prayers. V 3–11: PROBLEMS David feels physically tired and worn, lonely, rejected by men, opposed by enemies, and that his life is very transient. V 12–17: PERMANENCE Wisely, David takes his eyes off his own position and reflects on the character and eternal being of his merciful and faithful God. V 18–22: POSTERITY For generations to come, David knows that God will bless and establish His kingdom, despite the sinfulness of men. He hears even ‘the groaning of the prisoner’ and those under death sentence. V 23–28: PERSONAL David records his personal testimony and prayer. In so doing, he makes a messianic prophecy about Jesus, which we see later quoted in the letter to the Hebrews.
