Isaiah 50

V 1–3: SURE God assures Judah that He has not given a certificate of divorce or put her out of the way like a defaulting creditor. His power to save is sure and He can (and will) redeem Judah. V 4–11: SUBMISSIVE In the third Servant song, we learn how Messiah has a learned tongue and an open ear to His Father. His suffering and submission are foretold. He knows that He will be upheld. He warns that torment will come upon those who reject God’s light and urges them to ‘trust in the name of the Lord and rely upon His God’. Because He is submissive to the will of God, others can be blessed.
