I. Epistolary Greeting (1:1-2)

Peter, writing as an apostle and servant of Christ, addresses Christians who have received the same faith he has received. This faith, made effective by the gracious work of Christ (the righteousness of our God), has brought Christians into a vital relationship with God (the knowledge of God and of Jesus). Peter writes with the prayer that his readers may deepen their relationship with God by growing in grace.
