A. The Bride’s Second Dream (4:16-5:9)

The invitation of the bride for her groom to enter her garden is followed by her dream, which she relates to her friends. The dream shows how the bride can hardly believe that her lover is really asking for her. When she responds to his request, she finds that he is gone. She is abused by two guards when she asks where he went. This is followed by an appeal to the daughters of Jerusalem who ask her why her lover is so special.
