The last king of Damascus, in the days of Jothan, king of Judah. He was slain by Tiglath-pileser (2 Kings 15:37; 16:5-9; Isa. 7:1-8; 8:6; 9:11). Damascus sustained a siege of more than a year’s duration, but was eventually taken and its king slain (2 Kings 16:9).
A founder of a family of Nethinims whose descendants returned with Zerubbabel from captivity (Ezra 2:48; Neh. 7:50).
