Perez, Phares, Pharez [Pē'rĕz,Phā'rēz, Phā'rĕz]—bursting through, a breach. A son of Judah and one of the twins Tamar bore, who became the father of a tribal family and an ancestor of Jesus Christ (Gen. 38:29; Num. 26:20; Ruth 4:12, 18; 1 Chron. 27:3; Matt. 1:3).
