Omri [Ŏm'rī]—a bundle of corn, impetuous or jehovah apportions.
Father of Ahab, captain of the host, afterwards made king instead of Zimri who had slain Elah (1 Kings 16:16-30; 2 Kings 8:26; 2 Chron. 22:2; Micah 6:16). Omri was one of the most important kings of Israel and the founder of a dynasty. He reigned for twelve years.
