Maon [Mā'on]—habitation. Son of Shammai, of the tribe of Judah (1 Chron. 2:45). Also the name of a city in Judah now called Main (Josh. 15:55; 1 Sam. 25:2). Also the name of a tribe (Judg. 10:12).
