Darius [Dārī'us]—he that informs himself or a king.
The son of Hystaspes, and king of Persia b.c. (521-485). He allowed the Jews to rebuild the Temple (Ezra 4:5, 24).
Darius the Persian, Darius Nothus and probably the last king of Persia (Neh. 12:22).
Darius the Mede, the son of Ahasuerus of the seed of the Medes. He succeeded Belshazzar as king of Babylon at sixty-two years of age (Dan. 5:31; 6:9, 25; 9:1; 11:1).
