Carmi [Cär'mī]—vinedresser, noble or my vineyard.

  1. Father of Achan “who troubled Israel,” a Judahite (Josh. 7:1, 18; 1 Chron. 2:7). Perhaps the Carmi of 1 Chronicles 4:1 should be Chelubai.
  2. One of the sons of Reuben and father of the tribal family of Carmites (Gen. 46:9; Exod. 6:14; Num. 26:6; 1 Chron. 5:3).
