Psalm 72:1-7

Glory and Universality of the Messiah’s Reign

A Psalm (A)of Solomon.

72 Give the king Your judgments, O God,
And Your righteousness to the king’s Son.
(B)He will judge Your people with righteousness,
And Your poor with justice.
(C)The mountains will bring peace to the people,
And the little hills, by righteousness.
(D)He will bring justice to the poor of the people;
He will save the children of the needy,
And will [a]break in pieces the oppressor.

[b]They shall fear You
(E)As long as the sun and moon endure,
Throughout all generations.
(F)He shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing,
Like showers that water the earth.
In His days the righteous shall flourish,
(G)And abundance of peace,
Until the moon is no more.

Psalm 72:18-19

18 (A)Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel,
(B)Who only does wondrous things!
19 And (C)blessed be His glorious name forever!
(D)And let the whole earth be filled with His glory.
Amen and Amen.

Isaiah 30:19-26

19 For the people (A)shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem;
You shall (B)weep no more.
He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry;
When He hears it, He will (C)answer you.
20 And though the Lord gives you
(D)The bread of adversity and the water of [a]affliction,
Yet (E)your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore,
But your eyes shall see your teachers.
21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you (F)turn to the right hand
Or whenever you turn to the left.
22 (G)You will also defile the covering of your images of silver,
And the ornament of your molded images of gold.
You will throw them away as an unclean thing;
(H)You will say to them, “Get away!”

23 (I)Then He will give the rain for your seed
With which you sow the ground,
And bread of the increase of the earth;
It will be [b]fat and plentiful.
In that day your cattle will feed
In large pastures.
24 Likewise the oxen and the young donkeys that work the ground
Will eat cured fodder,
Which has been winnowed with the shovel and fan.
25 There will be (J)on every high mountain
And on every high hill
Rivers and streams of waters,
In the day of the (K)great slaughter,
When the towers fall.
26 Moreover (L)the light of the moon will be as the light of the sun,
And the light of the sun will be sevenfold,
As the light of seven days,
In the day that the Lord binds up the bruise of His people
And heals the stroke of their wound.

Acts 13:16-25

16 Then Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said, “Men of Israel, and (A)you who fear God, listen: 17 The God of this people [a]Israel (B)chose our fathers, and exalted the people (C)when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with [b]an uplifted arm He (D)brought them out of it. 18 Now (E)for a time of about forty years He put up with their ways in the wilderness. 19 And when He had destroyed (F)seven nations in the land of Canaan, (G)He distributed their land to them by allotment.

20 “After that (H)He gave them judges for about four hundred and fifty years, (I)until Samuel the prophet. 21 (J)And afterward they asked for a king; so God gave them (K)Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. 22 And (L)when He had removed him, (M)He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, (N)‘I have found David the son of Jesse, (O)a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’ 23 (P)From this man’s seed, according (Q)to the promise, God raised up for Israel (R)a[c] Savior—Jesus— 24 (S)after John had first preached, before His coming, the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. 25 And as John was finishing his course, he said, (T)‘Who do you think I am? I am not He. But behold, (U)there comes One after me, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to loose.’
