Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Sing to Yahweh a New Song
A Psalm.
98 Sing to Yahweh a (A)new song,
For He has done (B)wondrous deeds,
His (C)right hand and His (D)holy arm have [a]worked out His salvation.
2 (E)Yahweh has made known His salvation;
He has (F)revealed His righteousness in the eyes of the nations.
3 He has (G)remembered His lovingkindness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel;
(H)All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
10 On the (A)twenty-fourth of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of Yahweh came to Haggai the prophet, saying, 11 “Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘(B)Ask now the priests about the law: 12 If a man carries (C)holy meat in the [a]fold of his garment and touches bread with [b]this fold or cooked food, wine, oil, or any other food, will it become holy?’” And the priests answered, “No.” 13 Then Haggai said, “(D)If one who is unclean from a [c]corpse touches any of these, will the latter become unclean?” And the priests answered, “It will become unclean.” 14 Then Haggai answered and said, “‘(E)So is this people. And so is this nation before Me,’ declares Yahweh, ‘and so is every work of their hands; and what they bring near to Me there is unclean. 15 But now, (F)oh set your heart to consider from this day [d]onward: from before one (G)stone was set on another in the temple of Yahweh, 16 [e]from when it was that one came to a grain heap of twenty measures, then there would be only ten; and from when one came to the wine vat to draw fifty troughs full, then there would be only twenty. 17 I struck you and every work of your hands with (H)scorching wind, mildew, and hail; [f]yet you did not come back to Me,’ declares Yahweh. 18 ‘(I)Oh set your heart to consider from this day [g]onward, from the (J)twenty-fourth day of the ninth month; from the day when the temple of Yahweh was (K)founded, set your heart to consider: 19 Is the seed still in the barn? Even including the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree, it has not borne fruit. Yet from this day on I will (L)bless you.’”
Eyewitnesses of Jesus
16 For we did not make known to you the (A)power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, following cleverly devised (B)myths, but being (C)eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an [a](D)utterance as this was [b]made to Him by the (E)Majestic Glory, “This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased”— 18 and we ourselves heard this [c]utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the (F)holy mountain.
19 [d]And we have as more (G)sure (H)the prophetic word, to which you do well to pay attention as to (I)a lamp shining in a dark place, until the (J)day dawns and the (K)morning star arises (L)in your hearts. 20 (M)Know this first of all, that (N)no prophecy of Scripture comes by one’s own interpretation. 21 For (O)no prophecy was ever made by the will of man, but men being (P)moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
