Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Jeremiah’s Letter to the Captives
29 Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the remainder of the elders who were (A)carried away captive—to the priests, the prophets, and all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon.
4 Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all who were carried away captive, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem to Babylon:
5 Build houses and dwell in them; plant gardens and eat their fruit. 6 Take wives and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to husbands, so that they may bear sons and daughters—that you may be increased there, and not diminished. 7 And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, (A)and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.
Praise to God for His Awesome Works
To the Chief Musician. A Song. A Psalm.
66 Make (A)a joyful shout to God, all the earth!
2 Sing out the honor of His name;
Make His praise glorious.
3 Say to God,
“How (B)awesome are Your works!
(C)Through the greatness of Your power
Your enemies shall submit themselves to You.
4 (D)All the earth shall worship You
And sing praises to You;
They shall sing praises to Your name.” Selah
5 Come and see the works of God;
He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men.
6 (E)He turned the sea into dry land;
(F)They went through the river on foot.
There we will rejoice in Him.
7 He rules by His power forever;
His eyes observe the nations;
Do not let the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah
8 Oh, bless our God, you peoples!
And make the voice of His praise to be heard,
9 Who keeps our soul among the living,
And does not allow our feet to [a]be moved.
10 For (G)You, O God, have tested us;
(H)You have refined us as silver is refined.
11 (I)You brought us into the net;
You laid affliction on our backs.
12 (J)You have caused men to ride over our heads;
(K)We went through fire and through water;
But You brought us out to [b]rich fulfillment.
8 Remember that Jesus Christ, (A)of the seed of David, (B)was raised from the dead (C)according to my gospel, 9 (D)for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, (E)even to the point of chains; (F)but the word of God is not chained. 10 Therefore (G)I endure all things for the sake of the [a]elect, (H)that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11 This is a faithful saying:
For (I)if we died with Him,
We shall also live with Him.
12 (J)If we endure,
We shall also reign with Him.
(K)If we deny Him,
He also will deny us.
13 If we are faithless,
He remains faithful;
He (L)cannot deny Himself.
Approved and Disapproved Workers
14 Remind them of these things, (M)charging them before the Lord not to [b]strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. 15 (N)Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Ten Lepers Cleansed
11 Now it happened (A)as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, (B)who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
14 So when He saw them, He said to them, (C)“Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice (D)glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a (E)Samaritan.
17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 (F)And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”
