Psalm 66:1-12

Come and See the Works of God

For the choir director. A Song. A Psalm.

66 (A)Make a loud shout to God, all the earth;
Sing praise for the (B)glory of His name;
Establish His (C)praise as glorious.
Say to God, “How [a](D)fearsome are Your works!
Because of the abundance of Your strength Your enemies will [b](E)cower before You.
(F)All the earth will worship You,
And will (G)sing praises to You;
They will sing praises to Your name.” [c]Selah.

(H)Come and see the works of God,
Who is (I)fearsome in His deeds toward the sons of men.
He (J)turned the sea into dry land;
They passed through (K)the river on foot;
There let us (L)be glad in Him!
He (M)rules by His might forever;
His (N)eyes keep watch on the nations;
Let not the rebellious (O)exalt themselves. Selah.

Bless our God, O peoples,
And [d](P)make the sound of His praise heard,
Who [e](Q)establishes us among the living
And (R)does not allow our feet to stumble.
10 For You have (S)tested us, O God;
You have (T)refined us as silver is refined.
11 You (U)brought us into the net;
You established an oppressive burden upon our loins.
12 You made men (V)ride over our heads;
We went through (W)fire and through water,
Yet You (X)brought us out into a place of abundance.

Jeremiah 25:1-14

Seventy Years of Captivity

25 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the (A)fourth year of (B)Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah (that was the (C)first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to all the (D)people of Judah and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, “From the (E)thirteenth year of (F)Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, [a]these (G)twenty-three years the word of Yahweh has come to me, and I have spoken to you, [b](H)rising up early and speaking, but you have not listened. And Yahweh has sent to you all His (I)slaves the prophets, rising up early and sending, but you have not listened nor inclined your ear to hear, saying, ‘(J)Turn now everyone from his evil way and from the evil of your deeds, and live on the ground which Yahweh has given to you and your fathers (K)forever and ever; and (L)do not walk after other gods to [c]serve them and to [d]worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands, and I will bring no evil against you.’ Yet you have not listened to Me,” declares Yahweh, “in order that you might (M)provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands to your own evil demise.

“Therefore thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘Because you have not listened to My words, behold, I will (N)send and take all the families of the north,’ declares Yahweh, ‘and I will send to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, (O)My servant, and will bring them against this land and against its inhabitants and against all these surrounding nations; and I will [e]devote them to destruction and (P)make them an object of horror and of hissing and an everlasting waste place. 10 Moreover, I will [f](Q)make the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the (R)sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp, to perish from them. 11 (S)This whole land will be a waste place and an object of horror, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon (T)seventy years.

Punishment Against Babylon

12 ‘Then it will be (U)when seventy years are fulfilled, that I will (V)punish the king of Babylon and that nation,’ declares Yahweh, ‘for their iniquity, even the land of the Chaldeans; and (W)I will make it an everlasting desolation. 13 I will bring upon that land all My words which I have spoken against it, all that is written in (X)this book which Jeremiah has prophesied against (Y)all the nations. 14 [g]For (Z)many nations and great kings will make slaves of them, even them; and I will (AA)repay them according to their deeds and according to the work of their hands—’”

2 Timothy 1:13-18

13 [a](A)Hold to the (B)standard of (C)sound words (D)which you have heard from me, in the (E)faith and love which are in (F)Christ Jesus. 14 Guard, through the Holy Spirit who (G)dwells in us, the [b](H)treasure which has been entrusted to you.

15 You are aware of this: that all who are in (I)Asia (J)turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes. 16 The Lord give mercy to (K)the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and (L)was not ashamed of my [c](M)chains, 17 but when he was in Rome, he eagerly searched for me and found me— 18 the Lord [d]grant to him to find mercy from the Lord on (N)that day—and you know very well what services he rendered at (O)Ephesus.
