Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Hope of Relief in God’s Mercy
19 Remember my affliction and my [a]wandering, the (A)wormwood and bitterness.
20 Surely (B)my soul remembers
And is (C)bowed down within me.
21 This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have (D)hope.
22 The Lord’s (E)lovingkindnesses [b]indeed never cease,
(F)For His compassions never fail.
23 They are new (G)every morning;
Great is (H)Your faithfulness.
24 “The Lord is my (I)portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I (J)have hope in Him.”
25 The Lord is good to those who (K)wait for Him,
To the [c]person who (L)seeks Him.
26 It is good that he (M)waits silently
For the salvation of the Lord.
7 In the days of her affliction and homelessness
(A)Jerusalem remembers all her precious things
That were from the days of old,
When her people fell into the hand of the adversary
And (B)no one helped her.
The adversaries saw her,
They (C)mocked at her [a]ruin.
8 Jerusalem sinned (D)greatly,
Therefore (E)she has become an unclean thing.
All who honored her despise her
Because they have seen her nakedness;
Even (F)she herself groans and turns away.
9 Her (G)uncleanness was in her skirts;
She [b]did not consider her (H)future.
Therefore she has [c](I)fallen astonishingly;
(J)She has no comforter.
“(K)See, O Lord, my affliction,
For the enemy has (L)magnified himself!”
10 The adversary has stretched out his hand
Over all her precious things,
For she has seen the (M)nations enter her sanctuary,
The ones whom You commanded
That they should (N)not enter into Your congregation.
11 All her people groan (O)seeking bread;
They have given their precious things for food
To (P)restore their [d]lives themselves.
“See, O Lord, and look,
For I am (Q)despised.”
12 “Is (R)it nothing to all you who pass this way?
Look and see if there is any [e]pain like my [f]pain
Which was severely dealt out to me,
Which the (S)Lord inflicted on the day of His (T)fierce anger.
13 “From on high He sent fire into my (U)bones,
And it [g]prevailed over them.
He has spread a (V)net for my feet;
He has turned me back;
He has made me (W)desolate,
[h]Faint all day long.
14 “The (X)yoke of my transgressions is bound;
By His hand they are knit together.
They have (Y)come upon my neck;
He has made my strength [i]fail.
The Lord (Z)has given me into the hands
Of those against whom I am not able to stand.
15 “The (AA)Lord has rejected all my strong men
In my midst;
He has called an appointed [j]time against me
To crush my (AB)young men;
The Lord has (AC)trodden as in a wine press
The virgin daughter of Judah.
Sight for the Blind
29 (A)As they were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed Him. 30 And two blind men sitting by the road, hearing that Jesus was passing by, cried out, “Lord, (B)have mercy on us, (C)Son of David!” 31 The crowd sternly told them to be quiet, but they cried out all the more, “Lord, (D)Son of David, have mercy on us!” 32 And Jesus stopped and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” 33 They *said to Him, “Lord, we want our eyes to be opened.” 34 Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.
