Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Zayin.
49 Remember the word to Your servant,
[a]In which You have made me hope.
50 This is my (A)comfort in my affliction,
That Your word has [b]revived me.
51 The arrogant (B)utterly deride me,
Yet I do not (C)turn aside from Your law.
52 I have (D)remembered Your ordinances from [c]of old, O Lord,
And comfort myself.
53 Burning (E)indignation has seized me because of the wicked,
Who (F)forsake Your law.
54 Your statutes are my songs
In the house of my (G)pilgrimage.
55 O Lord, I (H)remember Your name (I)in the night,
And keep Your law.
56 This has become mine,
[d]That I (J)observe Your precepts.
36 “Now therefore thus says the Lord God of Israel concerning this city of which you say, ‘It is (A)given into the hand of the king of Babylon by sword, by famine and by pestilence.’ 37 Behold, I will (B)gather them out of all the lands to which I have driven them in My anger, in My wrath and in great indignation; and I will bring them back to this place and (C)make them dwell in safety. 38 They shall be (D)My people, and I will be their God; 39 and I will (E)give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me always, for their own (F)good and for the good of their children after them. 40 I will make an (G)everlasting covenant with them that I will (H)not turn away from them, to do them good; and I will (I)put the fear of Me in their hearts so that they will not turn away from Me. 41 I will (J)rejoice over them to do them good and will [a]faithfully (K)plant them in this land with (L)all My heart and with all My soul. 42 For thus says the Lord, ‘(M)Just as I brought all this great disaster on this people, so I am going to (N)bring on them all the good that I am promising them. 43 (O)Fields will be bought in this land of which you say, “(P)It is a desolation, without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.” 44 Men will buy fields for money, [b](Q)sign and seal deeds, and call in witnesses in the (R)land of Benjamin, in the environs of Jerusalem, in the cities of Judah, in the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland and in the cities of the [c]Negev; for I will (S)restore their [d]fortunes,’ declares the Lord.”
Misuse of Riches
5 (A)Come now, (B)you rich, (C)weep and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you. 2 (D)Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth-eaten. 3 Your gold and your silver have rusted; and their rust will be a witness against you and will consume your flesh like fire. It is (E)in the last days that you have stored up your treasure! 4 Behold, (F)the pay of the laborers who mowed your fields, and which has been withheld by you, cries out against you; and (G)the outcry of those who did the harvesting has reached the ears of (H)the Lord of [a]Sabaoth. 5 You have (I)lived luxuriously on the earth and led a life of wanton pleasure; you have [b]fattened your hearts in (J)a day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and [c](K)put to death (L)the righteous man; he does not resist you.
