Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Zayin
49 Remember the word to Your slave,
[a]In which You have made me wait.
50 This is my (A)comfort in my affliction,
That Your word has [b]revived me.
51 The arrogant (B)utterly scoff at me,
Yet I do not (C)turn aside from Your law.
52 I have (D)remembered Your judgments from [c]of old, O Yahweh,
And comfort myself.
53 Burning (E)indignation has seized me because of the wicked,
Who (F)forsake Your law.
54 Your statutes have become my songs
In the house of my (G)sojourning.
55 I (H)remember (I)in the night Your name, O Yahweh,
So I keep Your law.
56 This has become mine,
[d]That I (J)observe Your precepts.
36 “So now, therefore thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, concerning this city of which you are saying, ‘It is (A)given into the hand of the king of Babylon by sword, by famine, and by pestilence.’ 37 Behold, I will (B)gather them out of all the lands to which I have banished them in My anger, in My wrath, and in great indignation; and I will cause them to return to this place and (C)make them inhabit it in safety. 38 And they shall be (D)My people, and I will be their God; 39 and I will (E)give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me always, for their own (F)good and for the good of their children after them. 40 And I will cut an (G)everlasting covenant with them that I will (H)not turn away from them, to do them good; and I will (I)put the fear of Me in their hearts so that they will not turn away from Me. 41 And I will (J)rejoice over them to do them good and will truly (K)plant them in this land with (L)all My heart and with all My soul. 42 For thus says Yahweh, ‘(M)Just as I brought all this great evil on this people, so I am going to (N)bring on them all the good that I am promising them. 43 (O)Thus fields will be bought in this land of which you all are saying, “(P)It is a desolation, without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.” 44 Men will buy fields for money, [a](Q)sign and seal deeds, and call in witnesses in the (R)land of Benjamin, in the surroundings of Jerusalem, in the cities of Judah, in the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the [b]Shephelah, and in the cities of the [c]Negev; for I will [d](S)return their [e]fortunes,’ declares Yahweh.”
Miseries of the Rich
5 (A)Come now, (B)you rich, (C)cry, howling over your miseries which are coming upon you. 2 (D)Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth-eaten. 3 Your gold and your silver have rusted, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will consume your flesh like fire. You have stored up such treasure (E)in the last days! 4 Behold, (F)the pay of the laborers who mowed your fields—that which has been withheld by you—cries out against you; and (G)the outcries of those who did the harvesting have reached the ears of (H)the [a]Lord of [b]Sabaoth. 5 You have (I)lived luxuriously on the earth and lived in self-indulgence. You have [c]fattened your hearts in a (J)day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and (K)murdered (L)the righteous man; [d]he does not resist you.
