Version
Psalm 91:1-6

Security of the One Who Trusts in the Lord.

91 He who dwells in the (A)shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the (B)shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, “My (C)refuge and my (D)fortress,
My God, in whom I (E)trust!”
For it is He who delivers you from the (F)snare of the trapper
And from the deadly (G)pestilence.
He will (H)cover you with His pinions,
And (I)under His wings you may seek refuge;
His (J)faithfulness is a (K)shield and bulwark.

You (L)will not be afraid of the (M)terror by night,
Or of the (N)arrow that flies by day;
Of the (O)pestilence that [a]stalks in darkness,
Or of the (P)destruction that lays waste at noon.

Psalm 91:14-16

14 (A)Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will (B)set him securely on high, because he has (C)known My name.
15 “He will (D)call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in [a]trouble;
I will rescue him and (E)honor him.
16 “With [b]a (F)long life I will satisfy him
And [c](G)let him see My salvation.”

Jeremiah 24

Baskets of Figs and the Returnees

24 After (A)Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the officials of Judah with the craftsmen and smiths from Jerusalem and had brought them to Babylon, the Lord showed me: behold, two (B)baskets of figs set before the temple of the Lord! One basket had very good figs, like (C)first-ripe figs, and the other basket had (D)very bad figs which could not be eaten due to rottenness. Then the Lord said to me, “(E)What do you see, Jeremiah?” And I said, “Figs, the good figs, very good; and the bad figs, very bad, which cannot be eaten due to rottenness.”

Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel, ‘Like these good figs, so I will regard (F)as good the captives of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans. For I will set My eyes on them for good, and I will (G)bring them again to this land; and I will (H)build them up and not overthrow them, and I will (I)plant them and not pluck them up. I will give them a (J)heart to know Me, for I am the Lord; and they will be (K)My people, and I will be their God, for they will (L)return to Me with their whole heart.

‘But like the (M)bad figs which cannot be eaten due to rottenness—indeed, thus says the Lord—so I will [a]abandon (N)Zedekiah king of Judah and his officials, and the (O)remnant of Jerusalem who remain in this land and the ones who dwell in the land of (P)Egypt. I will (Q)make them a terror and an evil for all the kingdoms of the earth, as a (R)reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a (S)curse in all places where I will scatter them. 10 I will send the (T)sword, the famine and the pestilence upon them until they are destroyed from the land which I gave to them and their forefathers.’”

Luke 9:43-48

43 And they were all amazed at the [a](A)greatness of God.

(B)But while everyone was marveling at all that He was doing, He said to His disciples, 44 “Let these words sink into your ears; (C)for the Son of Man is going to be [b]delivered into the hands of men.” 45 But (D)they [c]did not understand this statement, and it was concealed from them so that they would not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask Him about this statement.

The Test of Greatness

46 (E)An argument [d]started among them as to which of them might be the greatest. 47 But Jesus, (F)knowing [e]what they were thinking in their heart, took a child and stood him by His side, 48 and said to them, (G)Whoever receives this child in My name receives Me, and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me; (H)for the one who is least among all of you, this is the one who is great.”
