11 In the Lord I put my trust; how say ye to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain,

² for lo, the wicked bend their bow and make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart;

³ if the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

⁴ The Lord is in His holy temple! The Lord’S throne is in heaven! His eyes behold; His eyelids test the children of men!

⁵ The Lord trieth the righteous; but the wicked and him that loveth violence, His soul hateth.

⁶ Upon the wicked He shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and a horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

⁷ For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; His countenance doth behold the upright.

¹⁴ They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing; for the majesty of the Lord, they shall cry aloud from the sea.

¹⁵ Therefore glorify ye the Lord in the valleys, even the name of the Lord God of Israel in the isles of the sea.

¹⁶ From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, “My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! The treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously, yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.”

¹⁷ Fear and the pit and the snare are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.

¹⁸ And it shall come to pass that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit, and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare; for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.

¹⁹ The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.

²⁰ The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.

²¹ And it shall come to pass in that day that the Lord shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.

²² And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.

²³ Then the moon shall be confounded and the sun ashamed, when the Lord of hosts shall reign in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem and before His elders gloriously.

⁴¹ Then Peter said unto Him, “Lord, speakest Thou this parable unto us, or even to all?”

⁴² And the Lord said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?

⁴³ Blessed is that servant whom his lord, when he cometh, shall find so doing.

⁴⁴ In truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.

⁴⁵ But if that servant say in his heart, ‘My lord delayeth his coming,’ and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink and be drunken,

⁴⁶ the lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him asunder and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

⁴⁷ And that servant, who knew his lord’s will and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

⁴⁸ But he that knew not and committed things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required; and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
