11 In the Lord I put my trust; how say ye to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain,
2 for lo, the wicked bend their bow and make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart;
3 if the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
4 The Lord is in His holy temple! The Lord’S throne is in heaven! His eyes behold; His eyelids test the children of men!
5 The Lord trieth the righteous; but the wicked and him that loveth violence, His soul hateth.
6 Upon the wicked He shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and a horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
7 For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; His countenance doth behold the upright.
24 Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.
2 And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of interest, so with the giver of interest to him.
3 The land shall be utterly emptied and utterly despoiled; for the Lord hath spoken this word.
4 The earth mourneth and fadeth away; the world languisheth and fadeth away; the haughty people of the earth do languish.
5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof, because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.
6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate; therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
7 The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.
8 The mirth of taborets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.
9 They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall bebitter to them that drink it.
10 The city of confusion is broken down; every house is shut up, that no man may come in.
11 There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.
12 In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.
13 When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning of grapes when the vintage is done.
17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac; and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18 of whom it was said, “In Isaac shall thy seed be called,”
19 accounting that God was able to raise him up even from the dead, from whence he also received him, in a figurative sense.
20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.
21 By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph and worshiped, leaning upon the top of his staff.
22 By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel, and gave commandment concerning his bones.
23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a handsome child; and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.
24 By faith Moses, when he had come of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,
25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season,
26 esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.
27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.
28 Through faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
