50 Unto the end, a psalm of David,

² When Nathan the prophet came to him after he had sinned with Bethsabee.

³ Have mercy on me, O God, according to thy great mercy. And according to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my iniquity.

⁴ Wash me yet more from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

⁵ For I know my iniquity, and my sin is always before me.

⁶ To thee only have I sinned, and have done evil before thee: that thou mayst be justified in thy words and mayst overcome when thou art judged.

⁷ For behold I was conceived in iniquities; and in sins did my mother conceive me.

⁸ For behold thou hast loved truth: the uncertain and hidden things of thy wisdom thou hast made manifest to me.

⁸ The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.

⁹ And all the people of Ephraim shall know, and the inhabitants of Samaria that say in the pride and haughtiness of their heart:

¹⁰ The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with square stones: they have cut down the sycamores, but we will change them for cedars.

¹¹ And the Lord shall set up the enemies of Rasin over him, and shall bring on his enemies in a crowd:

¹² The Syrians from the east, and the Philistines from the west: and they shall devour Israel with open mouth, For all this his indignation is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

¹³ And the people are not returned to him who hath struck them, and have not sought after the Lord of hosts.

¹⁴ And the Lord shall destroy out of Israel the head and the tail, him that bendeth down, and him that holdeth back, in one day.

¹⁵ The aged and honourable, he is the head: and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.

¹⁶ And they that call this people blessed, shall cause them to err: and they that are called blessed, shall be thrown down headlong.

¹⁷ Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men: neither shall he have mercy on their fatherless, and widows: for every one is a hypocrite and wicked, and every mouth hath spoken folly. For all this his indignation is not turned away, but his bend is stretched out still.

9 I speak the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost:

² That I have great sadness, and continual sorrow in my heart.

³ For I wished myself to be an anathema from Christ, for my brethren, who are my kinsmen according to the flesh,

⁴ Who are Israelites, to whom belongeth the adoption as of children, and the glory, and the testament, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises:

⁵ Whose are the fathers, and of whom is Christ, according to the flesh, who is over all things, God blessed for ever. Amen.

⁶ Not as though the word of God hath miscarried. For all are not Israelites that are of Israel:

⁷ Neither are all they that are the seed of Abraham, children; but in Isaac shall thy seed be called:

⁸ That is to say, not they that are the children of the flesh, are the children of God; but they, that are the children of the promise, are accounted for the seed.

⁹ For this is the word of promise: According to this time will I come; and Sara shall have a son.
