Hosea 11:1-11

11 1 The benefits of the Lord toward Israel. 5 Their ingratitude against him.

When Israel [a]was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

They called them, but they [b]went thus from them: they sacrificed unto Baal, and burnt incense to images.

I led Ephraim also, as one should bear them in his arms: but they knew not that I healed them.

I led them with cords [c]of a man, even with bands of love, and I was to them, as he was taketh off the yoke from their jaws, and I laid the meat unto them.

He shall no more return into the land of Egypt: but Assyria shall be his [d]King, because they refused to convert.

And the sword shall fall on his cities, and shall consume his bars, and devour them, because of their own counsels.

And my people are bent to rebellion against me: though [e]they called them to the most high, yet none at all would exalt him.

[f]How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee, as [g]Admah? how shall I set thee, as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me: [h]my repentings are rouled together.

I will not execute the fierceness of my wrath: I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man, the holy one in the midst of thee, and I will not [i]enter into the city.

10 They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children of the West shall fear.

11 [j]They shall fear as a sparrow out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria, and I will place them in their houses, saith the Lord.

Psalm 107:1-9

107 1 The Prophet exhorteth all those that are redeemed by the Lord and gathered unto him, to give thanks, 9 for this merciful providence of God governing all things at his good pleasures, 20 sending good and evil, prosperity and adversity to bring men unto him. 42 Therefore as the righteous thereat rejoice, so shall the wicked have their mouth stopped.

Praise [a]the Lord, because he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.

Let them, [b]which have been redeemed of the Lord, show how he hath delivered them from the hand of the oppressor,

And gathered them out of the lands, from the East and from the West, from the North and from the [c]South.

When they wandered in the desert and wilderness out of the way, and found no city to dwell in,

[d]Both hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress,

And led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

Let them therefore confess before the Lord his loving kindness, and his wonderful works before the sons of men.

For he satisfied the thirsty soul, and filled the hungry soul with goodness.

Psalm 107:43

43 Who is wise that he may observe these things? for they shall understand the loving kindness of the Lord.

Colossians 3:1-11

1 Against earthly exercises, which the false apostles urged, 2 he setteth heavenly: 5 and beginneth with the mortifying of the flesh, 8 whence he draweth particular exhortations, 18 and particular duties which depend on each man’s calling.

If [a]ye then [b]be [c]risen with Christ, [d]seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth at the right hand of God.

Set your affections on things which are above, and not on things which are on the [e]earth.

[f]For ye are dead, [g]and your life is hid with Christ in God.

When Christ which is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

(A)[h] Mortify therefore your [i]members which are on the earth, fornication, uncleanness, the inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness which is idolatry.

For the which things’ sake the wrath of God [j]cometh on the children of disobedience.

Wherein ye also walked once, when ye lived in them.

But now put ye away even all these things, wrath, anger, maliciousness, cursed speaking, filthy speaking, out of your mouth.

Lie not one to another: [k]seeing that ye have put off the old man with his works,

10 And have put on the new, [l]which is renewed in [m]knowledge after the image of him that created him,

11 [n]Where is neither Grecian nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond, free: But Christ is all, and in all things.

Luke 12:13-21

13 [a]And one of the company said unto him, Master, bid my brother divide the inheritance with me.

14 And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge, or a divider over you?

15 Wherefore he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of [b]covetousness: for though a man have abundance, yet his [c]life standeth not in his riches.

16 [d]And he put forth a parable unto them, saying, The [e]ground of a certain rich man brought forth fruits plenteously.

17 Therefore he [f]thought with himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where I may lay up my fruits?

18 And he said, This will I do, I will pull down my barns, and build greater, and therein will I gather all my fruits, and my goods.

19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years, live at ease, eat, drink, and [g]take thy pastime.

20 But God said unto him, O fool, this night will they fetch away thy soul from thee: then whose shall those things be which thou hast provided?

21 So is he that gathereth riches [h]to himself, and is not rich in God.
