Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Gimel
17 (A)Deal generously with Your servant,
That I may live and keep Your word.
18 Open my eyes, that I may behold
Wonderful things from Your Law.
19 I am a (B)stranger on the earth;
Do not hide Your commandments from me.
20 My soul is crushed [a](C)with longing
For Your ordinances at all times.
21 You (D)rebuke the arrogant, [b]the (E)cursed,
Who (F)wander from Your commandments.
22 (G)Take disgrace and contempt away from me,
For I (H)comply with Your testimonies.
23 Even though (I)rulers sit and speak against me,
Your servant (J)meditates on Your statutes.
24 Your testimonies also are my (K)delight;
They are [c]my advisers.
Daleth
25 My (L)soul clings to the dust;
(M)Revive me (N)according to Your word.
26 I have told of my ways, and You have answered me;
(O)Teach me Your statutes.
27 Make me understand the way of Your precepts,
And I will (P)meditate on Your wonders.
28 My (Q)soul [d]weeps because of grief;
(R)Strengthen me according to Your word.
29 Remove the false way from me,
And graciously grant me Your Law.
30 I have chosen the faithful way;
I have [e]placed Your judgments before me.
31 I (S)cling to Your testimonies;
Lord, do not put me to shame!
32 I shall run the way of Your commandments,
For You will (T)enlarge my heart.
5 The Lord [a]God of armies,
The One who (A)touches the land so that it quakes,
And (B)all those who live in it mourn,
And all of it rises up like the Nile
And subsides like the Nile of Egypt;
6 The One who builds His (C)upper chambers in the heavens
And has founded His vaulted dome over the earth,
He who (D)calls for the waters of the sea
And (E)pours them out on the face of the earth,
(F)The Lord is His name.
7 “Are you not as the sons of (G)Ethiopia to Me,
You sons of Israel?” declares the Lord.
“Have I not brought up Israel from the land of Egypt,
And the (H)Philistines from Caphtor and the (I)Arameans from (J)Kir?
8 Behold, the (K)eyes of the Lord God are on the sinful kingdom,
And I will (L)eliminate it from the face of the earth;
Nevertheless, I will (M)not totally eliminate the house of Jacob,”
Declares the Lord.
9 “For behold, I am commanding,
And I will (N)shake the house of Israel among all nations
As grain is shaken in a sieve,
But not a pebble will fall to the ground.
10 All the (O)sinners of My people will die by the sword,
Those who say, ‘(P)The catastrophe will not overtake or confront us.’
The Restoration of Israel
11 “On that day I will (Q)raise up the fallen [b](R)shelter of David,
And wall up its (S)gaps;
I will also raise up its ruins
And rebuild it as in the (T)days of old;
12 (U)So that they may [c]possess the remnant of (V)Edom
And all the [d]nations who are (W)called by My name,”
Declares the Lord who does this.
13 “Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“When the (X)plowman will overtake the reaper,
And the one who treads grapes will overtake him who sows the seed;
When the (Y)mountains will drip grape juice,
And all the hills will come apart.
14 I will also (Z)restore the fortunes of My people Israel,
And they will (AA)rebuild the desolated cities and live in them;
They will also (AB)plant vineyards and drink their wine,
And make gardens and eat their fruit.
15 I will also plant them on their land,
And (AC)they will not be uprooted again from their land
Which I have given them,”
Says the Lord your God.
Words to the Jews
41 (A)So then the Jews were complaining about Him because He said, “I am the bread that (B)came down out of heaven.” 42 And they were saying, “(C)Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother (D)we know? How does He now say, ‘(E)I have come down out of heaven’?” 43 Jesus answered and said to them, “Stop complaining among yourselves. 44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me (F)draws him; and I will (G)raise him up on the last day. 45 It is written (H)in the Prophets: ‘(I)And they shall all be (J)taught of God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. 46 (K)Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father. 47 Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who believes (L)has eternal life. 48 (M)I am the bread of life. 49 (N)Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50 This is the bread that (O)comes down out of heaven, so that anyone may eat from it and (P)not die. 51 (Q)I am the living bread that (R)came down out of heaven; if anyone eats from this bread, (S)he will live forever; and the bread which I will give (T)for the life of the world also is (U)My flesh.”
