Psalm 119:17-32

Gimel

17 (A)Deal generously with Your servant,
That I may live and keep Your word.
18 Open my eyes, that I may behold
Wonderful things from Your Law.
19 I am a (B)stranger on the earth;
Do not hide Your commandments from me.
20 My soul is crushed [a](C)with longing
For Your ordinances at all times.
21 You (D)rebuke the arrogant, [b]the (E)cursed,
Who (F)wander from Your commandments.
22 (G)Take disgrace and contempt away from me,
For I (H)comply with Your testimonies.
23 Even though (I)rulers sit and speak against me,
Your servant (J)meditates on Your statutes.
24 Your testimonies also are my (K)delight;
They are [c]my advisers.

Daleth

25 My (L)soul clings to the dust;
(M)Revive me (N)according to Your word.
26 I have told of my ways, and You have answered me;
(O)Teach me Your statutes.
27 Make me understand the way of Your precepts,
And I will (P)meditate on Your wonders.
28 My (Q)soul [d]weeps because of grief;
(R)Strengthen me according to Your word.
29 Remove the false way from me,
And graciously grant me Your Law.
30 I have chosen the faithful way;
I have [e]placed Your judgments before me.
31 I (S)cling to Your testimonies;
Lord, do not put me to shame!
32 I shall run the way of Your commandments,
For You will (T)enlarge my heart.

Amos 8:13-9:4

13 On that day the beautiful (A)virgins
And the young men will (B)faint from thirst.
14 As for those who swear by the [a](C)guilt of Samaria,
And say, ‘As your god lives, (D)Dan,’
And, ‘As the way of (E)Beersheba lives,’
They will fall and (F)not rise again.”

God’s Judgment Unavoidable

I saw the Lord standing beside the (G)altar, and He said,

“Strike the pillar capitals so that the (H)thresholds will shake,
And (I)break them on the heads of them all!
Then I will (J)put to death the rest of them with the sword;
They will (K)not have a fugitive who will flee,
Nor a survivor who will escape.
Though they dig into (L)Sheol,
From there My hand will take them;
And though they (M)ascend to heaven,
From there I will bring them down.
And though they hide on the summit of Carmel,
I will (N)track them down and take them from there;
And though they (O)hide themselves from My sight on the bottom of the sea,
I will command the (P)serpent from there, and it will bite them.
And though they go into (Q)captivity before their enemies,
From there I will command the sword and it will kill them,
And I will (R)set My eyes against them for harm and not for good.”

1 John 2:1-6

Christ Is Our Advocate

(A)My little children, I am (B)writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, (C)we have an [a](D)Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is (E)the [b]propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also (F)for the sins of the whole world.

(G)By this we know that we have come to (H)know Him, if we (I)keep His commandments. The one who says, “(J)I have come to (K)know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a (L)liar, and (M)the truth is not in him; but whoever (N)follows His word, in him the (O)love of God has truly been perfected. (P)By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says that he (Q)remains in Him (R)ought, himself also, to walk just as He walked.
