Psalm 82

Unjust Judgments Rebuked.

A Psalm of Asaph.

82 God takes His (A)stand in [a]His own congregation;
He (B)judges in the midst of the [b](C)rulers.
How long will you (D)judge unjustly
And (E)show partiality to the wicked? [c]Selah.
(F)Vindicate the weak and fatherless;
Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.
(G)Rescue the weak and needy;
Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.

They (H)do not know nor do they understand;
They (I)walk about in darkness;
All the (J)foundations of the earth are shaken.
[d]I (K)said, “You are gods,
And all of you are (L)sons of the Most High.
“Nevertheless (M)you will die like men
And fall like any (N)one of the princes.”
(O)Arise, O God, (P)judge the earth!
For it is You who (Q)possesses all the nations.

Amos 2:12-3:8

12 “But you made the Nazirites drink wine,
And you commanded the prophets saying, ‘You (A)shall not prophesy!’
13 “Behold, I am [a](B)weighted down beneath you
As a wagon [b]is weighted down when filled with sheaves.
14 [c](C)Flight will perish from the swift,
And the stalwart will not strengthen his power,
Nor the (D)mighty man save his [d]life.
15 “He who (E)grasps the bow will not stand his ground,
The swift of foot will not escape,
Nor will he who rides the (F)horse save his [e]life.
16 “Even the [f]bravest among the warriors will (G)flee naked in that day,” declares the Lord.

All the Tribes Are Guilty

Hear this word which the Lord has spoken against you, sons of Israel, against the entire [g](H)family which [h]He brought up from the land of Egypt:

(I)You only have I [i]chosen among all the families of the earth;
Therefore I will [j](J)punish you for all your iniquities.”
Do two men walk together unless they have made an [k]appointment?
Does a (K)lion roar in the forest when he has no prey?
Does a young lion [l]growl from his den unless he has captured something?
Does a bird fall into a trap on the ground when there is no [m]bait in it?
Does a trap spring up from the earth when it captures nothing at all?
If a (L)trumpet is blown in a city will not the people tremble?
If a (M)calamity occurs in a city has not the Lord done it?
[n]Surely the Lord [o]God does nothing
Unless He (N)reveals His secret counsel
To His servants the prophets.
A (O)lion has roared! Who will not fear?
The (P)Lord [p]God has spoken! (Q)Who can but prophesy?

John 3:16-21

16 “For God so (A)loved the world, that He (B)gave His [a](C)only begotten Son, that whoever (D)believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God (E)did not send the Son into the world (F)to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 (G)He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of (H)the [b]only begotten Son of God. 19 This is the judgment, that (I)the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for (J)their deeds were evil. 20 (K)For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But he who (L)practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”
