Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
82 1 The Prophet declaring God to be present among the Judges and Magistrates, 2 Reproveth their partiality. 3 And exhorteth them to do justice. 5 But seeing none amendment, 8 He desireth God to undertake the matter and execute justice himself.
A Psalm committeth to Aspah.
1 God standeth in the assembly of [a]gods: he judgeth among gods.
2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the [b]wicked? Selah.
3 Do right to the poor and fatherless: do justice to the poor and needy.
4 Deliver the poor and [c]needy: save them from the hand of the wicked.
5 They know not and understand nothing: they walk in darkness, albeit all the [d]foundations of the earth be moved.
6 I have said, Ye are gods, and ye all are children of the most High.
7 [e]But ye shall die as a man, and ye princes shall fall like others.
8 O God, arise, therefore judge thou the earth: for thou shalt inherit [f]all nations.
12 But ye gave the Nazirites wine to drink, and commanded the Prophets, saying, Prophesy not.
13 Behold, I am [a]pressed under you as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves.
14 Therefore the flight shall perish from the [b]swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty save his life.
15 Nor he that handleth the bow shall stand, and he that is swift of foot, shall not escape, neither shall he that rideth the horse, save his life.
16 And he that is of a mighty courage among the strong men, shall flee away naked in that day, saith the Lord.
3 He reproveth the house of Israel of ingratitude. 11 For the which God will punish them.
1 Hear this word that the Lord pronounceth against you, O children of Israel, even against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,
2 You [c]only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will visit you for all your iniquities.
3 Can two walk together except they be [d]agreed?
4 Will a [e]lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? or will a lion’s whelp cry out of his den, if he hath taken nothing?
5 [f]Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no fowler is? or will he take up the [g]snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?
6 Or [h]shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people be not afraid? or shall there [i]be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it?
7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he [j]revealeth his secret unto his servants the Prophets.
8 The lion hath roared: who will not be afraid? the Lord God hath spoken, who can but [k]prophesy?
16 (A)[a]For God so loveth the world, that he hath given his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth [b]in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 (B)[c]For God sent not his Son into the world, that he should [d]condemn the world, but that the [e]world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth in him, is not condemned: but he that believeth not, is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the Name of that only begotten Son of God.
19 (C)[f]And this is the [g]condemnation, that that light came into the world, and men loved darkness rather than that light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every man that evil doeth, hateth the light, neither cometh to light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that [h]doeth truth, cometh to the light, that his deeds might be made manifest, that they are wrought [i]according to God.
