Version
Psalm 6

Prayer for Mercy in Time of Trouble.

For the choir director; with stringed instruments, [a]upon an eight-string lyre. A Psalm of David.

O Lord, (A)do not rebuke me in Your anger,
Nor chasten me in Your wrath.
Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am (B)pining away;
(C)Heal me, O Lord, for (D)my bones are dismayed.
And my (E)soul is greatly dismayed;
But You, O Lord(F)how long?

Return, O Lord, (G)rescue my [b]soul;
Save me because of Your lovingkindness.
For (H)there is no [c]mention of You in death;
In [d]Sheol who will give You thanks?

I am (I)weary with my sighing;
Every night I make my bed swim,
I dissolve my couch with (J)my tears.
My (K)eye has wasted away with grief;
It has become old because of all my adversaries.

(L)Depart from me, all you who do iniquity,
For the Lord (M)has heard the voice of my weeping.
The Lord (N)has heard my supplication,
The Lord (O)receives my prayer.
10 All my enemies will (P)be ashamed and greatly dismayed;
They shall [e]turn back, they will (Q)suddenly be ashamed.

2 Kings 6:1-7

The Axe Head Recovered

Now (A)the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “Behold now, the place before you where we are living is too limited for us. Please let us go to the Jordan and each of us take from there a beam, and let us make a place there for ourselves where we may live.” So he said, “Go.” Then one said, “Please be willing to go with your servants.” And he [a]answered, “I shall go.” So he went with them; and when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees. But as one was felling a beam, [b]the axe head fell into the water; and he cried out and said, “Alas, my master! For it was borrowed.” Then the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” And when he showed him the place, (B)he cut off a stick and threw it in there, and made the iron float. He said, “Take it up for yourself.” So he put out his hand and took it.

Luke 10:13-16

13 (A)Woe to you, (B)Chorazin! Woe to you, (C)Bethsaida! For if the [a]miracles had been performed in (D)Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in [b](E)sackcloth and ashes. 14 But it will be more tolerable for (F)Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you. 15 And you, (G)Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven, will you? You will be brought down to Hades!

16 (H)The one who listens to you listens to Me, and (I)the one who rejects you rejects Me; and he who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”
