Version
Psalm 6

This is a song that David wrote.

Tell the music leader, ‘Use harps when you sing this song.’

David prays for health[a]

Lord, when you are angry,
    please do not punish me.
I do not feel strong, Lord,
so please be kind to me.
Lord, please make me well again.
    Even my bones are shaking.
    I am very frightened.
Lord, when will you do something to help me?[b]
Lord, turn back to me. Give me back my life.
Make me safe because of your faithful love.
If I die, I will no longer remember you.
Nobody can praise you in their grave!
I am crying so much that I have no more strength.
My bed becomes wet because I weep all night.
My tears run into my pillow.[c]
I am so sad that my eyes do not see well any more.
They are becoming weak because of all my enemies.[d]

Go away from me, you people who do wicked things!
Now the Lord has heard me when I weep.[e]
I asked the Lord to be kind and to help me.
    Now he has answered me!
10 All my enemies will become ashamed!
They will go away from me in fear!
Shame will suddenly come to them!

2 Kings 6:1-7

Another miracle that Elisha did

One day, the group of prophets said to Elisha, ‘The place where we meet with you is too small for us. We must go to the Jordan River to cut down some trees. Each one of us can bring back some wood to build a new place for us to meet in.’ Elisha agreed and he told them to go.

One of the prophets said, ‘Please come with us, sir.’ Elisha replied, ‘I will come with you.’ So he went with them. They arrived at the Jordan River. They started to cut down some trees. While one of them was cutting down a tree, his iron axe fell into the water. He shouted, ‘Oh! My master! The axe did not belong to me!’ Elisha asked him, ‘Where did it fall in the water?’ He showed Elisha the place. Then Elisha cut a branch from a tree. He threw it in the water at that place. It caused the iron axe to come to the top of the water. Elisha told the prophet, ‘Lift it out of the water.’ So the man took hold of it with his hand.

Luke 10:13-16

Some towns where people did not believe

13 Jesus then said, ‘You people in Chorazin, things will be bad for you! And things will be bad for you, people in Bethsaida. I have done great and powerful things in your cities. If I had done such great things in Tyre and in Sidon, the people there would have changed how they lived. They would have shown that they were sorry for their sins. They would have put on rough clothes. They would also have put ashes on their heads. 14 Yes, when God judges everyone, he will punish the people of Tyre and Sidon. But he will punish even more you people from Chorazin and Bethsaida. 15 And what will happen to you people in Capernaum? You think that God will lift you up to heaven, do you? No! He will throw you down to Hades, the place for dead people!’[a]

16 Jesus then said to his disciples, ‘Whoever listens to you is also listening to me. Whoever does not accept you does not accept me. And whoever does not accept me does not accept my Father God, who sent me.’
