Psalm 75

God Judges with Equity

For the choir director. [a]Al-tashheth. A Psalm of Asaph. [b]A Song.

75 We (A)give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks,
For Your name is (B)near;
Men recount (C)Your wondrous deeds.
“For I select an (D)appointed time,
It is I who (E)judge with equity.
The (F)earth and all who dwell in it [c]melt;
It is I who have firmly set its (G)pillars. [d]Selah.
I said to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’
And to the wicked, ‘(H)Do not raise up the horn;
Do not raise up your horn on high,
(I)Nor speak with insolent [e]pride.’”

For one’s rising up does not come from the east, nor from the west,
And not from the [f](J)desert;
But (K)God is the Judge;
He (L)puts down one and raises up another.
For a (M)cup is in the hand of Yahweh, and the wine foams;
It is (N)full of His mixture, and He pours from this;
Surely all the wicked of the earth must drain and (O)drink down its dregs.

But as for me, I will (P)declare it forever;
I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10 And all the (Q)horns of the wicked I will cut off,
But (R)the horns of the righteous will be raised up.

2 Kings 3:4-20

Now Mesha king of Moab was a sheep breeder and (A)used to pay the king of Israel 100,000 lambs and the wool of 100,000 rams. But it happened that (B)when Ahab died, the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel. And King Jehoram went out of Samaria [a]at that time and mustered all Israel. Then he went and sent word to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, “The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me to fight against Moab?” And he said, “I will go up; (C)I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.” And he said, “Which way shall we go up?” And he [b]answered, “The way of the wilderness of Edom.”

So (D)the king of Israel went with (E)the king of Judah and (F)the king of Edom; and they went around on a seven days’ journey, and there was no water for the camp or for the cattle that [c]followed them. 10 Then the king of Israel said, “Alas! For Yahweh has called these three kings to give them into the hand of Moab.” 11 But Jehoshaphat said, “(G)Is there not a prophet of Yahweh here, that we may inquire of Yahweh by him?” And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, “(H)Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, (I)who used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.” 12 And Jehoshaphat said, “The word of Yahweh is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

13 Now Elisha said to the king of Israel, “What do I have to do with you? (J)Go to the prophets of your father and to the prophets of your mother.” And the king of Israel said to him, “No, for Yahweh has called these three kings together to give them into the hand of Moab.” 14 And Elisha said, “(K)As Yahweh of hosts lives, before whom I stand, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look at you nor see you. 15 So now (L)bring me a musician.” And it came about, when the musician played, that (M)the hand of Yahweh came upon him. 16 And he said, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Make this valley full of trenches.’ 17 For thus says Yahweh, ‘You shall not see wind nor shall you see rain; yet that valley (N)shall be filled with water, so that you shall drink, both you and your livestock and your cattle. 18 And this is but a (O)light thing in the sight of Yahweh; He will also give the Moabites into your hand. 19 (P)Then you shall strike every fortified city and every choice city, and fell every good tree and stop all springs of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.’” 20 Then it happened in the morning (Q)about the time of offering the sacrifice, that behold, water came by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.

Ephesians 5:6-20

(A)Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things (B)the wrath of God comes upon (C)the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be (D)partakers with them, for (E)you were formerly (F)darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as (G)children of light (for (H)the fruit of that light consists in all (I)goodness and righteousness and truth), 10 [a](J)trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 (K)And do not participate in the unfruitful (L)works of (M)darkness, but instead even [b](N)expose them. 12 For it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things become visible (O)when they are [c]exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. 14 For this reason [d]it says,

(P)Awake, sleeper,
And arise from (Q)the dead,
And Christ (R)will shine on you.”

15 Therefore look carefully how you (S)walk, not (T)as unwise but as wise, 16 (U)redeeming the time, because (V)the days are evil. 17 On account of this, do not be foolish, but (W)understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And (X)do not get drunk with wine, [e]for that is (Y)dissipation, but be (Z)filled with the Spirit, 19 (AA)speaking to [f]one another in (AB)psalms and (AC)hymns and spiritual (AD)songs, (AE)singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; 20 (AF)always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to [g](AG)God, even the Father;
