Version
Psalm 77:1-2

Comfort in Trouble from Recalling God’s Mighty Deeds.

For the choir director; [a]according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph.

77 My voice rises to God, and I will (A)cry aloud;
My voice rises to God, and He will hear me.
In the (B)day of my trouble I sought the Lord;
(C)In the night my (D)hand was stretched out [b]without weariness;
My soul (E)refused to be comforted.

Psalm 77:11-20

11 I shall remember the (A)deeds of [a]the Lord;
Surely I will (B)remember Your wonders of old.
12 I will (C)meditate on all Your work
And muse on Your deeds.
13 Your way, O God, is (D)holy;
(E)What god is great like our God?
14 You are the (F)God who works wonders;
You have (G)made known Your strength among the peoples.
15 You have by Your [b]power (H)redeemed Your people,
The sons of Jacob and (I)Joseph. Selah.

16 The (J)waters saw You, O God;
The waters saw You, they were in anguish;
The deeps also trembled.
17 The (K)clouds poured out water;
The skies (L)gave forth a sound;
Your (M)arrows [c]flashed here and there.
18 The (N)sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind;
The (O)lightnings lit up the world;
The (P)earth trembled and shook.
19 Your (Q)way was in the sea
And Your paths in the mighty waters,
And Your footprints may not be known.
20 You (R)led Your people like a flock
By the hand of (S)Moses and Aaron.

1 Kings 22:29-40

Defeat and Death of Ahab

29 So (A)the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up against Ramoth-gilead. 30 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “(B)I will disguise myself and go into the battle, but you put on your robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into the battle. 31 Now (C)the king of Aram had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, “Do not fight with small or great, but with the king of Israel alone.” 32 So when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “Surely it is the king of Israel,” and they turned aside to fight against him, and Jehoshaphat cried out. 33 When the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.

34 Now a certain man drew his bow at random and struck the king of Israel [a]in a joint of the armor. So he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn [b]around and take me out of the [c]fight; (D)for I am severely wounded.” 35 The battle [d]raged that day, and the king was propped up in his chariot in front of the Arameans, and died at evening, and the blood from the wound ran into the bottom of the chariot. 36 (E)Then a cry passed throughout the army close to sunset, saying, “Every man to his city and every man to his [e]country.”

37 So the king died and was brought to Samaria, and they buried the king in Samaria. 38 They washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria, and the dogs licked up his blood (now the harlots bathed themselves there), (F)according to the word of the Lord which He spoke. 39 Now the rest of the acts of Ahab and all that he did and (G)the ivory house which he built and all the cities which he built, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? 40 So Ahab slept with his fathers, and Ahaziah his son became king in his place.

1 Kings 22:51-53

51 Ahaziah the son of Ahab (A)became king over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and he reigned two years over Israel. 52 He did evil in the sight of the Lord and (B)walked in the way of his father and in the way of his mother and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin. 53 (C)So he served Baal and worshiped him and provoked the Lord God of Israel to anger, according to all that his father had done.

2 Corinthians 13:5-10

(A)Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; (B)examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you [a](C)fail the test? But I trust that you will realize that we ourselves [b]do not fail the test. Now we pray to God that you do no wrong; not that we ourselves may appear approved, but that you may do what is right, even though we may [c]appear unapproved. For we can do nothing against the truth, but only for the truth. For we rejoice when we ourselves are (D)weak but you are strong; this we also pray for, [d]that you be (E)made complete. 10 For this reason I am writing these things while absent, so that when present (F)I need not use (G)severity, in accordance with the (H)authority which the Lord gave me for building up and not for tearing down.
