Version
Psalm 124

124 The people of God, escaping a great peril, do acknowledge themselves to be delivered, not by their own force, but by the power of God. 4 They declare the greatness of the peril. 6 And praise the Name of God.

A song of degrees, or Psalm of David.

If the Lord had not been [a]on our side, (may Israel now say)

If the Lord had [not] been on our side, when men rose up against us,

They had then swallowed us up [b]quick, when their wrath was kindled against us.

Then the [c]waters had drowned us, and the stream had gone over our soul:

Then had the swelling waters gone over our soul.

Praised be the Lord, which hath not given us as a prey unto their teeth.

Our soul is escaped, even as a bird out of the [d]snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are delivered.

Our help is in the Name of the Lord, which hath made heaven and earth.

Proverbs 7:1-4

1 An exhortation to wisdom and to the word of God. 5 Which will preserve us from the harlot, 6 Whose manners are described.

My son keep my words, and hide my commandments with thee.

Keep my commandments, and thou shalt live, and mine instruction, as the [a]apple of thine eyes.

Bind them upon thy fingers, and write them upon the table of thine heart.

Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister, and call understanding thy kinswoman,

Ephesians 4:7-16

[a]But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the [b]gift of Christ.

Wherefore he saith, When he ascended upon high, he led [c]captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

(Now, in that he ascended, what is it but that he had also descended first into the [d]lowest parts of the earth?

10 He that descended, is even the same that ascended, far above all heavens, that he might [e]fill [f]all things.)

11 [g]He therefore gave some to be [h]Apostles, and some [i]Prophets, and some [j]Evangelists, and some [k]Pastors, and Teachers,

12 [l]For the repairing of the Saints, for the work of the ministry, and for the edification of the [m]body of Christ,

13 [n]Till we all meet together (in the [o]unity of faith and that acknowledging of the Son of God) unto a perfect man, and unto the measure of the [p]age the fullness of Christ,

14 [q]That we henceforth be no more children, [r]wavering and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the [s]deceit of men, and with craftiness, whereby they lay in [t]wait to deceive.

15 [u]But let us follow the truth in love, and in all things, grow up into him, which is the head, that is, Christ.

16 By whom all the body being coupled and knit together by every joint, for the furniture thereof (according to the [v]effectual power, which is in the measure of every part) receiveth [w]increase of the body, unto the edifying of itself in [x]love.
