Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
The Commendation of Wisdom
8 Does not (A)wisdom call,
And understanding [a]lift up her voice?
2 On top of (B)the heights beside the way,
Where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
3 Beside the (C)gates, at the opening to the city,
At the entrance of the doors, she cries out:
4 “To you, O men, I call,
And my voice is to the sons of men.
22 “The Lord possessed me (A)at the beginning of His way,
Before His works [a]of old.
23 “From everlasting I was [b](B)established,
From the beginning, (C)from the earliest times of the earth.
24 “When there were no (D)depths I was [c]brought forth,
When there were no springs abounding with water.
25 “(E)Before the mountains were settled,
Before the hills I was [d]brought forth;
26 While He had not yet made the earth and the [e]fields,
Nor the first dust of the world.
27 “When He (F)established the heavens, I was there,
When (G)He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,
28 When He made firm the skies above,
When the springs of the deep became [f]fixed,
29 When (H)He set for the sea its boundary
So that the water would not transgress His [g]command,
When He marked out (I)the foundations of the earth;
30 Then (J)I was beside Him, as a master workman;
And I was daily His delight,
[h]Rejoicing always before Him,
31 [i]Rejoicing in the world, His earth,
And having (K)my delight in the sons of men.
The Lord’s Glory and Man’s Dignity.

8 O Lord, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth,
Who have [a](A)displayed Your splendor above the heavens!
2 (B)From the mouth of infants and nursing babes You have established [b](C)strength
Because of Your adversaries,
To make (D)the enemy and the revengeful cease.
3 When I [c](E)consider (F)Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The (G)moon and the stars, which You have [d]ordained;
4 (H)What is man that You [e]take thought of him,
And the son of man that You care for him?
5 Yet You have made him a (I)little lower than [f]God,
And (J)You crown him with (K)glory and majesty!
6 You make him to (L)rule over the works of Your hands;
You have (M)put all things under his feet,
7 All sheep and oxen,
And also the [g]beasts of the field,
8 The birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea,
Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.
9 (N)O Lord, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth!
Results of Justification
5 (A)Therefore, having been justified by faith, [a](B)we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have (C)obtained our introduction by faith into this grace (D)in which we stand; and [b]we exult in hope of the glory of God. 3 (E)And not only this, but [c]we also (F)exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about (G)perseverance; 4 and (H)perseverance, (I)proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope (J)does not disappoint, because the love of God has been (K)poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
12 “I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 But when He, (A)the Spirit of truth, comes, He will (B)guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14 He will (C)glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. 15 (D)All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.
