Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
How Majestic Is Your Name
To the choirmaster: according to The (A)Gittith.[a] A Psalm of David.
8 O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your (B)name in all the earth!
You have set your (C)glory above the heavens.
2 (D)Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established (E)strength because of your foes,
to still (F)the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I (G)look at your heavens, the work of your (H)fingers,
the moon and the stars, (I)which you have set in place,
4 (J)what is man that you are (K)mindful of him,
and (L)the son of man that you (M)care for him?
5 Yet you have made him a little lower than (N)the heavenly beings[b]
and crowned him with (O)glory and honor.
6 You have given him (P)dominion over the works of your hands;
(Q)you have put all things under his feet,
7 all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
19 (A)The Lord by wisdom founded the earth;
by understanding (B)he established the heavens;
20 by his knowledge (C)the deeps broke open,
and (D)the clouds drop down the dew.
21 My son, (E)do not lose sight of these—
keep sound wisdom and discretion,
22 and they will be (F)life for your soul
and (G)adornment for your neck.
23 (H)Then you will walk on your way securely,
(I)and your foot will not stumble.
24 (J)If you lie down, you will not be afraid;
when you lie down, (K)your sleep will be sweet.
25 (L)Do not be afraid of sudden terror
or of (M)the ruin[a] of the wicked, when it comes,
26 for the Lord will be your confidence
and will (N)keep your foot from being caught.
Unity in the Body of Christ
4 I therefore, (A)a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to (B)walk in a manner worthy of (C)the calling to which you have been called, 2 with all (D)humility and (E)gentleness, with (F)patience, (G)bearing with one another in love, 3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in (H)the bond of peace. 4 There is (I)one body and (J)one Spirit—just as you were called to the one (K)hope that belongs to your call— 5 (L)one Lord, (M)one faith, (N)one baptism, 6 (O)one God and Father of all, (P)who is over all and through all and in all.
