Psalm 29

The Voice of the Lord in the Storm.

A Psalm of David.

29 (A)Ascribe to the Lord, O [a]sons of the mighty,
Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory [b]due to His name;
Worship the Lord (B)in [c]holy array.

The (C)voice of the Lord is upon the waters;
The God of glory (D)thunders,
The Lord is over [d](E)many waters.
The voice of the Lord is (F)powerful,
The voice of the Lord is majestic.
The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
Yes, the Lord breaks in pieces (G)the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes Lebanon (H)skip like a calf,
And (I)Sirion like a young wild ox.
The voice of the Lord hews out [e]flames of fire.
The voice of the Lord [f]shakes the wilderness;
The Lord shakes the wilderness of (J)Kadesh.
The voice of the Lord makes (K)the deer to calve
And strips the forests bare;
And (L)in His temple everything says, “Glory!”

10 The Lord sat as King at the (M)flood;
Yes, the Lord sits as (N)King forever.
11 [g]The Lord will give (O)strength to His people;
[h]The Lord will bless His people with (P)peace.

Exodus 40:16-38

16 Thus Moses did; according to all that the Lord had commanded him, so he did.

17 Now (A)in the first month [a]of the second year, on the first day of the month, the [b]tabernacle was erected. 18 Moses erected the tabernacle and [c]laid its [d]sockets, and set up its boards, and [e]inserted its bars and erected its pillars. 19 He spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent [f]on top of it, just as the Lord had commanded Moses. 20 Then he took (B)the testimony and put it into the ark, and [g]attached the poles to the ark, and put the [h]mercy seat [i]on top of the ark. 21 He brought the ark into the tabernacle, and (C)set up a veil for the screen, and screened off the ark of the testimony, just as the Lord had commanded Moses. 22 Then he (D)put the table in the tent of meeting on the north side of the tabernacle, outside the veil. 23 He set the arrangement of (E)bread in order on it before the Lord, just as the Lord had commanded Moses. 24 Then he placed the lampstand in the tent of meeting, opposite the table, on the south side of the tabernacle. 25 He (F)lighted the lamps before the Lord, just as the Lord had commanded Moses. 26 Then he (G)placed the gold altar in the tent of meeting in front of the veil; 27 and he (H)burned fragrant incense on it, just as the Lord had commanded Moses. 28 Then he set up the [j]veil for the doorway of the tabernacle. 29 He (I)set the altar of burnt offering before the doorway of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and (J)offered on it the burnt offering and the meal offering, just as the Lord had commanded Moses. 30 He placed the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it for washing. 31 (K)From it Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet. 32 When they entered the tent of meeting, and when they approached the altar, they washed, just as the Lord had commanded Moses. 33 He (L)erected the court all around the [k]tabernacle and the altar, and [l]hung up the veil for the gateway of the court. Thus Moses finished the work.

The Glory of the Lord

34 (M)Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the (N)glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. 35 Moses (O)was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. 36 Throughout all their journeys (P)whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the sons of Israel would set out; 37 but (Q)if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out until the day when it was taken up. 38 For throughout all their journeys, (R)the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel.

Acts 16:35-40

35 Now when day came, the chief magistrates sent their policemen, saying, “Release those men.” 36 And (A)the jailer reported these words to Paul, saying, “The chief magistrates have sent to release you. Therefore come out now and go (B)in peace.” 37 But Paul said to them, “They have beaten us in public without trial, (C)men who are Romans, and have thrown us into prison; and now are they sending us away secretly? No indeed! But let them come themselves and bring us out.” 38 The policemen reported these words to the chief magistrates. (D)They were afraid when they heard that they were Romans, 39 and they came and appealed to them, and when they had brought them out, they kept begging them (E)to leave the city. 40 They went out of the prison and entered the house of (F)Lydia, and when they saw (G)the brethren, they [a]encouraged them and departed.
