Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Psalm 23
The Good Shepherd
A psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd;(A)
I have what I need.(B)
2 He lets me lie down in green pastures;(C)
he leads me beside quiet waters.(D)
3 He renews my life;
he leads me along the right paths[a]
for his name’s sake.(E)
4 Even when I go through the darkest valley,[b]
I fear no danger,
for you are with me;(F)
your rod and your staff—they comfort me.(G)
25 “‘This is what the Lord God says: When I gather the house of Israel(A) from the peoples where they are scattered, I will demonstrate my holiness through them in the sight of the nations, and they will live in their own land, which I gave to my servant Jacob. 26 They will live there securely,(B) build houses, and plant vineyards.(C) They will live securely when I execute judgments(D) against all their neighbors who treat them with contempt. Then they will know that I am the Lord their God.’”
29 Don’t strive for what you should eat and what you should drink, and don’t be anxious. 30 For the Gentile world eagerly seeks(A) all these things, and your Father(B) knows that you need them.
31 “But seek his kingdom,(C) and these things will be provided for you.(D) 32 Don’t be afraid,(E) little flock,(F) because your Father delights(G) to give you the kingdom.(H)
