Version
Acts 5:27-32

27 After they brought them in, they had them stand before the Sanhedrin, and the high priest asked, 28 “Didn’t we strictly order you not to teach in this name?(A) Look, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.”(B)

29 Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than people. 30 The God of our ancestors raised up Jesus,(C) whom you had murdered by hanging him on a tree.(D) 31 God exalted this man to his right hand as ruler and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.(E) 32 We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit(F) whom God has given to those who obey him.”

Psalm 118:14-29

14 The Lord is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation.(A)

15 There are shouts of joy and victory
in the tents of the righteous:
“The Lord’s right hand performs valiantly!(B)
16 The Lord’s right hand is raised.
The Lord’s right hand performs valiantly!” (C)
17 I will not die, but I will live
and proclaim what the Lord has done.(D)
18 The Lord disciplined me severely
but did not give me over to death.(E)

19 Open the gates of righteousness for me;
I will enter through them
and give thanks to the Lord.(F)
20 This is the Lord’s gate;
the righteous will enter through it.(G)
21 I will give thanks to you
because you have answered me
and have become my salvation.(H)
22 The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.(I)
23 This came from the Lord;
it is wondrous in our sight.(J)
24 This is the day the Lord has made;
let’s rejoice and be glad in it.(K)

25 Lord, save us!
Lord, please grant us success!(L)
26 He who comes in the name
of the Lord is blessed.(M)
From the house of the Lord we bless you.(N)
27 The Lord is God and has given us light.
Bind the festival sacrifice with cords
to the horns of the altar.(O)
28 You are my God, and I will give you thanks.
You are my God; I will exalt you.(P)
29 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his faithful love endures forever.(Q)

Revelation 1:4-8

John: To the seven churches in Asia. Grace and peace(A) to you from[a] the one who is, who was, and who is to come,(B) and from the seven spirits[b](C) before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness,(D) the firstborn from the dead(E) and the ruler of the kings of the earth.(F)

To him who loves us and has set us free[c] from our sins by his blood,(G) and made us a kingdom,[d] priests[e](H) to his God and Father—to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.(I)

Look, he is coming with the clouds,(J)
and every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him.
And all the tribes[f] of the earth[g](K)
will mourn over him.[h][i] (L)
So it is to be. Amen.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,”(M) says the Lord God, “the one who is, who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

John 20:19-31

The Disciples Commissioned

19 When it was evening on that first day of the week,(A) the disciples were gathered together with the doors locked because they feared the Jews. Jesus came, stood among them, and said to them, “Peace be with you.”(B)

20 Having said this, he showed them his hands and his side.(C) So the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me,(D) I also send you.”(E) 22 After saying this, he breathed on them(F) and said,[a] “Receive the Holy Spirit.(G) 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”(H)

Thomas Sees and Believes

24 But Thomas(I) (called “Twin”[b]), one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples were telling him, “We’ve seen the Lord!”

But he said to them, “If I don’t see the mark of the nails in his hands, put my finger into the mark of the nails,(J) and put my hand into his side,(K) I will never believe.”(L)

26 A week later his disciples were indoors again, and Thomas was with them. Even though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”

27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and look at my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Don’t be faithless, but believe.”(M)

28 Thomas responded to him, “My Lord and my God!”

29 Jesus said, “Because you have seen me, you have believed.[c] Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.”(N)

The Purpose of This Gospel

30 Jesus performed many other signs(O) in the presence of his disciples that are not written(P) in this book.(Q) 31 But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah,(R) the Son(S) of God,[d](T) and that by believing you may have life in his name.(U)
