Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Foolishness and Wickedness of People.
For the music director; according to [a]Mahalath. A [b]Maskil of David.
53 (A)The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”
They are corrupt, and have committed abominable injustice;
(B)There is no one who does good.
2 God has looked down from heaven upon the sons of mankind
To see if there is (C)anyone who [c]understands,
Who (D)seeks after God.
3 (E)Every one of them has turned aside; together they have become corrupt;
There is no one who does good, not even one.
4 Have the workers of injustice (F)no knowledge,
Who eat up My people like they ate bread,
And have not called upon God?
5 They were in great [d]fear there, (G)where no [e]fear had been;
For God (H)scattered the bones of [f]him who encamped against you;
You (I)put them to shame, because (J)God had rejected them.
6 Oh, that (K)the salvation of Israel would come from Zion!
When God restores the fortunes of His people,
Jacob shall rejoice, Israel shall be glad.
The Day of Atonement
26 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 27 “On exactly (A)the tenth day of this seventh month is (B)the Day of Atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble [a]yourselves and present an offering by fire to the Lord. 28 You shall not do any work on this very day, for it is a (C)Day of Atonement, (D)to make atonement on your behalf before the Lord your God. 29 If there is any [b]person who does not humble himself on this very day, (E)he shall be cut off from his people. 30 As for any person who does any work on this very day, that person I will eliminate from among his people. 31 You shall not do any work. It is to be a permanent statute throughout your generations in all your dwelling places. 32 It is to be a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you shall humble [c]yourselves; on the ninth of the month at evening, from evening until evening, you shall keep your Sabbath.”
33 Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 34 “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘On (F)the fifteenth of this [d]seventh month is the (G)Feast of Booths for seven days to the Lord. 35 On the first day is a holy convocation; you shall (H)not do any laborious work. 36 (I)For seven days you shall present an offering by fire to the Lord. On (J)the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation and present an offering by fire to the Lord; it is an assembly. You shall not do any laborious work.
37 ‘These are (K)the appointed times of the Lord which you shall proclaim as holy convocations, to present offerings by fire to the Lord—burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, (L)each day’s matter on its own day— 38 besides those of the Sabbaths of the Lord, and besides your gifts and besides all your [e]vowed and [f]voluntary offerings, which you give to the Lord.
39 ‘On exactly the fifteenth day of the seventh month, (M)when you have gathered in the crops of the land, you shall celebrate the feast of the Lord for seven days, with a [g]rest on the first day and a [h]rest on the eighth day. 40 Now on the first day you shall take for yourselves the [i]foliage of beautiful trees, palm branches and branches of trees with thick branches and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. 41 So you shall celebrate it as a feast to the Lord for seven days in the year. It shall be a permanent statute throughout your generations; you shall celebrate it in the seventh month.
The Fourfold Hallelujah
19 After these things I heard something like a (A)loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,
“(B)Hallelujah! (C)Salvation, (D)glory, and power belong to our God, 2 (E)because His (F)judgments are (G)true and righteous; for He has judged the (H)great prostitute who was corrupting the earth with her sexual immorality, and He has (I)avenged the blood of His bond-servants [a]on her.” 3 And a second time they said, “(J)Hallelujah! (K)Her smoke rises forever and ever.” 4 And the (L)twenty-four elders and the (M)four living creatures (N)fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne, saying, “(O)Amen. (P)Hallelujah!” 5 And a voice came from the throne, saying,
“(Q)Give praise to our God, all you His bond-servants, (R)you who fear Him, the small and the great.” 6 Then I heard something like (S)the voice of a great multitude and like (T)the sound of many waters, and like the (U)sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying,
“(V)Hallelujah! For the (W)Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.
Marriage of the Lamb
7 Let’s rejoice and be glad and (X)give the glory to Him, because (Y)the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His [b](Z)bride has prepared herself.” 8 It was given to her to clothe herself in (AA)fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the (AB)righteous acts of the [c]saints.
