Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
9 [a]For you have made the Lord, (A)my refuge,
Even the Most High, (B)your dwelling place.
10 (C)No evil will befall you,
Nor will any plague come near your [b]tent.
11 For He will give (D)His angels charge concerning you,
To guard you in all your ways.
12 They will (E)bear you up in their hands,
That you do not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will (F)tread upon the lion and cobra,
The young lion and the [c]serpent you will trample down.
14 “(G)Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will (H)set him securely on high, because he has (I)known My name.
15 “He will (J)call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in [d]trouble;
I will rescue him and (K)honor him.
16 “With [e]a (L)long life I will satisfy him
And [f](M)let him see My salvation.”
A Time for Everything
3 There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a (A)time for every [a]event under heaven—
2 A time to give birth and a (B)time to die;
A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.
3 A (C)time to kill and a time to heal;
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
4 A time to (D)weep and a time to (E)laugh;
A time to mourn and a time to (F)dance.
5 A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing.
6 A time to search and a time to give up as lost;
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
7 A time to tear apart and a time to sew together;
A time to (G)be silent and a time to speak.
8 A time to love and a time to (H)hate;
A time for war and a time for peace.
Jesus Foretells His Death
27 “(A)Now My soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, ‘(B)Father, save Me from (C)this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour. 28 (D)Father, glorify Your name.” Then a (E)voice came out of heaven: “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.” 29 So the crowd of people who stood by and heard it were saying that it had thundered; others were saying, “(F)An angel has spoken to Him.” 30 Jesus answered and said, “(G)This voice has not come for My sake, but for your sakes. 31 (H)Now judgment is upon this world; now (I)the ruler of this world will be cast out. 32 And I, if I (J)am lifted up from the earth, will (K)draw all men to Myself.” 33 But He was saying this (L)to indicate the kind of death by which He was to die. 34 The crowd then answered Him, “We have heard out of (M)the Law that [a](N)the Christ is to remain forever; and how can You say, ‘The (O)Son of Man must be (P)lifted up’? Who is this (Q)Son of Man?” 35 So Jesus said to them, “(R)For a little while longer (S)the Light is among you. (T)Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you; he who (U)walks in the darkness does not know where he goes. 36 While you have the Light, (V)believe in the Light, so that you may become (W)sons of Light.”
These things Jesus spoke, and He went away and [b](X)hid Himself from them.
