Psalm 91:1-2

Psalm 91

The Protection of the Most High

The one who lives under the protection of the Most High
dwells in the shadow of the Almighty.(A)

I will say[a] concerning the Lord, who is my refuge and my fortress,
my God in whom I trust:(B)

Psalm 91:9-16

Because you have made the Lord—my refuge,(A)
the Most High—your dwelling place,(B)
10 no harm will come to you;
no plague will come near your tent.(C)
11 For he will give his angels orders concerning you,
to protect you in all your ways.(D)
12 They will support you with their hands
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.(E)
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the young lion and the serpent.(F)

14 Because he has his heart set on me,
I will deliver him;
I will protect him because he knows my name.(G)
15 When he calls out to me, I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble.
I will rescue him and give him honor.(H)
16 I will satisfy him with a long life(I)
and show him my salvation.(J)

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

The Mystery of Time

There is an occasion for everything,
and a time for every activity under heaven:(A)
a time to give birth and a time to die;(B)
a time to plant and a time to uproot;[a]
a time to kill and a time to heal;
a time to tear down and a time to build;
a time to weep and a time to laugh;(C)
a time to mourn and a time to dance;(D)
a time to throw stones and a time to gather stones;(E)
a time to embrace and a time to avoid embracing;(F)
a time to search and a time to count as lost;
a time to keep and a time to throw away;
a time to tear and a time to sew;
a time to be silent and a time to speak;(G)
a time to love and a time to hate;
a time for war and a time for peace.(H)

John 12:27-36

27 “Now my soul is troubled. What should I say—Father, save me(A) from this hour? But that is why I came to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name.”[a](B)

Then a voice(C) came from heaven: (D) “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”(E)

29 The crowd standing there heard it and said it was thunder. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.”

30 Jesus responded, “This voice came, not for me, but for you.(F) 31 Now is the judgment of this world.(G) Now the ruler of this world(H) will be cast out.(I) 32 As for me, if I am lifted up[b] from the earth I will draw all people to myself.”(J) 33 He said this to indicate what kind of death he was about to die.(K)

34 Then the crowd replied to him, “We have heard from the law that the Messiah will remain forever.(L) So how can you say, ‘The Son of Man(M) must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?”

35 Jesus answered, “The light will be with you only a little longer.(N) Walk while you have the light(O) so that darkness doesn’t overtake you.(P) The one who walks in darkness doesn’t know where he’s going.(Q) 36 While you have the light,(R) believe in the light so that you may become children of light.” Jesus said this, then went away and hid from them.(S)
