Psalm 91:1-2

Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God

91 He (A)who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide (B)under the shadow of the Almighty.
(C)I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”

Psalm 91:9-16

Because you have made the Lord, who is (A)my refuge,
Even the Most High, (B)your dwelling place,
10 (C)No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 (D)For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall [a]bear you up,
(E)Lest you [b]dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will [c]set him on high, because he has (F)known My name.
15 He shall (G)call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be (H)with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With [d]long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”

Exodus 6:1-13

God Renews His Promise to Israel

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh. For (A)with a strong hand he will let them go, and with a strong hand (B)he will drive them out of his land.”

And God spoke to Moses and said to him: “I am [a]the Lord. (C)I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as (D)God Almighty, but by My name (E)Lord[b] I was not known to them. (F)I have also [c]established My covenant with them, (G)to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their [d]pilgrimage, (H)in which they were [e]strangers. And (I)I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant. Therefore say to the children of Israel: (J)‘I am the Lord; (K)I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will (L)rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with [f]an outstretched arm and with great judgments. I will (M)take you as My people, and (N)I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the Lord your God who brings you out (O)from under the burdens of the Egyptians. And I will bring you into the land which I (P)swore[g] to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and I will give it to you as a heritage: I am the Lord.’ ” So Moses spoke thus to the children of Israel; (Q)but they did not heed Moses, because of (R)anguish[h] of spirit and cruel bondage.

10 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 11 “Go in, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the children of Israel go out of his land.”

12 And Moses spoke before the Lord, saying, “The children of Israel have not heeded me. How then shall Pharaoh heed me, for (S)I am [i]of uncircumcised lips?”

13 Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, and gave them a (T)command[j] for the children of Israel and for Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.

Acts 7:35-42

35 “This Moses whom they rejected, saying, (A)‘Who made you a ruler and a judge?’ is the one God sent to be a ruler and a deliverer (B)by the hand of the Angel who appeared to him in the bush. 36 (C)He brought them out, after he had (D)shown wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, (E)and in the Red Sea, (F)and in the wilderness forty years.

Israel Rebels Against God

37 “This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, (G)‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. (H)Him[a] you shall hear.’

38 (I)“This is he who was in the [b]congregation in the wilderness with (J)the Angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, (K)the one who received the living (L)oracles[c] to give to us, 39 whom our fathers (M)would not obey, but rejected. And in their hearts they turned back to Egypt, 40 (N)saying to Aaron, ‘Make us gods to go before us; as for this Moses who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.’ 41 (O)And they made a calf in those days, offered sacrifices to the idol, and (P)rejoiced in the works of their own hands. 42 Then (Q)God turned and gave them up to worship (R)the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the Prophets:

(S)‘Did you offer Me slaughtered animals and sacrifices during forty years in the wilderness,
O house of Israel?
